In this study, 48 sub-jects participated in 3 experiments in which the purer role of temporal properties of stimului were examined. Data were provided by a tem-poral oddball paradigm and the analysis was implemented by repeated measures analysis of variance in experiments 1 and 3. In experiment 2, a psychometric function was used to deter-mine the modified estimations in temporal pro-cessing system. Findings showed that despite removing the non-temporal change in expe-riment 1, the temporal change between repea-ted/non-repeated stimuli can produce time con-traction and dilation respectively. The result was only for the auditory system. In experi-ment 2, an efficient threshold for temporal oddball was suggested. Using the updated threshold, experiment 3 revealed concordant repeated/non-repeated effects on time percep-tion in both modalities.
<fullTextUrl>http://psychological-research.com/Article/32901</fullTextUrl><keywords><keyword>cognitive and sensory processing</keyword><keyword> sensory modality</keyword><keyword> psychophysics method</keyword><keyword> time perception</keyword><keyword> method of constant stimuli</keyword></keywords></record><record><language>per</language><publisher> Psychological Research</publisher><journalTitle>پژوهش های روانشناختی</journalTitle><issn>1019-9616</issn><eissn> 1019-9616</eissn><publicationDate>2020-11</publicationDate><volume>22</volume><issue>2</issue><startPage>31</startPage><endPage>53</endPage><documentType>article</documentType><title language="eng">Strengthening Success by Psychological Capital through Weakening Job Stress among Female Teachers</title><authors><author><name>mohsen Golparvar</name><email>drmgolparvar@gmail.com</email><affiliationId>1</affiliationId></author><author><name>Reza Sadeghi</name><email>sadeghish@yahoo.com</email><affiliationId>2</affiliationId></author></authors><affiliationsList><affiliationName affiliationId="1" /><affiliationName affiliationId="2" /></affiliationsList>
Abstract: This research was administered with the aim of strengthening success by psycho-logical capital through weakening job stress among female teachers. The statistical population of the study consisted of female elementary school teachers in Isfahan city, of which 221 teachers were selected by simple random sampling method and then responded to Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ), Job Stress Questionnaire (JSQ) and Career Success Questionnaire (CSQ). Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and structural equation modeling (SEM). Results revealed that there is a negative significant relationship between psychological capital and job stress, but there is a positive significant relationship between psychological capital and career success (P&lt;0.01). Results of structural equation modeling and mediation analysis indicated that job stress is a partial mediator on the relationship between psycho-logical capital and career success.
<fullTextUrl>http://psychological-research.com/Article/32902</fullTextUrl><keywords><keyword>career success job stress psycho-logical capital female teachers</keyword></keywords></record><record><language>per</language><publisher> Psychological Research</publisher><journalTitle>پژوهش های روانشناختی</journalTitle><issn>1019-9616</issn><eissn> 1019-9616</eissn><publicationDate>2020-11</publicationDate><volume>22</volume><issue>2</issue><startPage>54</startPage><endPage>75</endPage><documentType>article</documentType><title language="eng">Qualitative Study of Emotional Disorders’ Symptoms in Some Ethnic Groups in Iran</title><authors><author><name>Mostafa Zarean</name><email>Zarean@tabrizu.ac.ir</email><affiliationId>1</affiliationId></author><author><name>Shahriar Shahidi</name><email>shahriarshahidi@hotmail.com</email><affiliationId>2</affiliationId></author><author><name>Fons van de Vijver</name><email>Fons.vandeVijver@uvt.nl</email><affiliationId>3</affiliationId></author><author><name>Mohsen Dehghani</name><email>M.Dehghani@sbu.ac.ir</email><affiliationId>4</affiliationId></author></authors><affiliationsList><affiliationName affiliationId="1" /><affiliationName affiliationId="2">Professor, Department of Psychology and education.Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran.</affiliationName><affiliationName affiliationId="3" /><affiliationName affiliationId="4" /></affiliationsList>
The present study aimed to investigate the cultural dimensions of anxiety and depression in Azeri, Kurd, and Fars (Persian) ethnic groups in Iran. In a cross sectional qualitative design, 44 individuals with emotional problems participated in an in-depth interview including perceptions of emotional disorders, their causal factors, and help seeking behaviors. Data were analyzed using conventional content analysis. Primary findings represented relative similarity between these three groups in the reported themes, which could be summarized in three main themes, namely negative emotionality, somatization, and maladaptive cognition. Perceived etiological factors for emotional disorders included more psycho-logical processes rather than social and environmental components. The extracted themes consisted of a heterogeneous set of psychological constructs, and provided further evidence to reiterate the importance of contextual variables such as culture and ethnicity in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of emotional disorders.
<fullTextUrl>http://psychological-research.com/Article/32903</fullTextUrl><keywords><keyword>cultural dimensions anxiety</keyword><keyword> depression</keyword><keyword> emotional disorders</keyword><keyword> Iran</keyword></keywords></record><record><language>per</language><publisher> Psychological Research</publisher><journalTitle>پژوهش های روانشناختی</journalTitle><issn>1019-9616</issn><eissn> 1019-9616</eissn><publicationDate>2020-11</publicationDate><volume>22</volume><issue>2</issue><startPage>76</startPage><endPage>94</endPage><documentType>article</documentType><title language="eng">Coping Styles and Critical Thinking Skills of Students with Perceived Stress of Earthquake</title><authors><author><name>Fariborz Nikdel</name><email>fnikdel@yu.ac.ir</email><affiliationId>1</affiliationId></author></authors><affiliationsList><affiliationName affiliationId="1">دانشگاه یاسوج</affiliationName></affiliationsList>
The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between coping styles and critical thinking skills of university students with their perceived stress after Yasouj earthquake (April 2018). The research method was non-experimental and correlational. Statistical population of the study consisted of students of Yasouj universities in the academic year of 2017-18. The sample of the study included 280 students selected through multistage cluster random sampling. Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI), and Coping Innventry for Stressful Situations (CISS) were administered. The results showed that there was a negative and significant relation-ship between problem-oriented coping style and students' perceived stress. Also, there was a positive and significant relationship between students' emotion-oriented coping style and their perceived stress. The relationship between avoidant coping style and students' perceived stress was not significant. Critical thinking had significant negative relationship with students' perceived stress. The results of step wise regression analysis showed that emotion-oriented coping style, critical thinking, and problem-oriented coping style were respectively predictors of students' perceived stress.
<fullTextUrl>http://psychological-research.com/Article/32904</fullTextUrl><keywords><keyword>critical thinking skills coping styles perceived stress</keyword></keywords></record><record><language>per</language><publisher> Psychological Research</publisher><journalTitle>پژوهش های روانشناختی</journalTitle><issn>1019-9616</issn><eissn> 1019-9616</eissn><publicationDate>2020-11</publicationDate><volume>22</volume><issue>2</issue><startPage>95</startPage><endPage>113</endPage><documentType>article</documentType><title language="eng">Book Review: Science of Mind or Psychology from the Standpoint of Education</title><authors><author><name>Esmaeil Naseri</name><email>e.naseri@ihcs.ac.ir</email><affiliationId>1</affiliationId></author></authors><affiliationsList><affiliationName affiliationId="1" /></affiliationsList>
Abstract: The book "Science of Mind or Psychology from the Standpoint of Education" by Ali Akbar Siassi (1938) is mentioned as the first academic textbook of psychology in Iran. In this article, an attempt has been made to review and critique this work according to the book review method of the Council for the Study of Humanities Texts. This work has most of the apparent indicators of the books, including the title page, preface, table of contents, list of terms, list of names, and list of gravures (photos, figures, tables, and diagrams). The lack of an introduction, both at the beginning of the book and at the beginning of the chapters, and the lack of a list of sources at the end of the book are among the most significant shortcomings of this work in the later form. In terms of content, the relevance of the book's content to the current topics of general psychology, the organization of the book's chapters according to the topics of the science of mind, attention to empirical psycho-logy, pioneering word retrieval, attention to educating children and adolescents, examining important theories of psychology and Criticism of them, and attention to Iranian sources, are among the strengths of the book. The weaknesses in referencing and not updating the latest editions of the book, are among the most significant shortcomings of this work.
<fullTextUrl>http://psychological-research.com/Article/32905</fullTextUrl><keywords><keyword>psychology</keyword><keyword> science of mind</keyword><keyword> shape critique</keyword><keyword> content critique</keyword></keywords></record><record><language>per</language><publisher> Psychological Research</publisher><journalTitle>پژوهش های روانشناختی</journalTitle><issn>1019-9616</issn><eissn> 1019-9616</eissn><publicationDate>2020-11</publicationDate><volume>22</volume><issue>2</issue><startPage>114</startPage><endPage>128</endPage><documentType>article</documentType><title language="eng">Relationship between Personality Traits and Use and Abuse of Hallucinogens</title><authors><author><name>Mehdi Ganji</name><email>ganjimehdi@gmail.com</email><affiliationId>1</affiliationId></author><author><name>mehrdad sabet</name><email>mehrdadsabet@riau.ac.ir</email><affiliationId>2</affiliationId></author><author><name>Hamzeh Ganji</name><email>r.s@riau.ac.ir</email><affiliationId>3</affiliationId></author><author><name>Khadijeh Abolmaali</name><email>abolmaalialhoseyni@yahoo.com</email><affiliationId>4</affiliationId></author></authors><affiliationsList><affiliationName affiliationId="1" /><affiliationName affiliationId="2" /><affiliationName affiliationId="3" /><affiliationName affiliationId="4" /></affiliationsList>
The goal of this study was to examine the correlation between personality traits and use or abuse of hallucinogens. The statistical population consisted of all Iraninans who had used a hallucinogen at least once or abused these drugs. The sample group consisted of 100 men and women users or abusers and the control group consisted of 100 individuals who had never used these drugs. Participants answered an online survey consisting of a questionnaire for demographic background and the NEO Five Factor Personality Inventory (NEO-FFI). Demographic, personality, and hallucinogenic drug use data were analysed using logistic regression analysis method. The analysis revealed that users/abusers of hallucinogenic drugs, compared to nonusers, are more open to new experiences and are more agreeable.
<fullTextUrl>http://psychological-research.com/Article/32906</fullTextUrl><keywords><keyword>personality
