This research was carried out based on causal-comparative research to compare cri-minal thinking of substance-dependent and in-dependent offenders. The population consisted of 300 prisoners in Tehran Province in 2014. Sampling was the one stage clustering sam-pling method. Multivariate analysis of variance indicated that means of criminal thinking styles of power-orientation and criminal rationalization are higher for substance-dependent offenders than substance-independent offenders (p<0.05).
